Growing up in a musical family, Ian's interest in music began at an early age. He learned to play piano at just 5 years old and soon began composing as well. In kindergarten he joined his school choir and continued singing throughout grade school and college. Upon completing his b.a. in music from Bridgewater State University in 2008, he joined the Bridgewater State University Alumni Chamber Choir and the Jubilate Chorale, both of which have performed several of his works.
Ian became fascinated with film music since he first saw the Lion King on the big screen and has been told many times that his music sounds as though it ought to be in a movie. His big break finally came when, in 2011, his cousin co-directed a short film for the Turners Falls Film Project in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. Ian was to score one of six films for the project. The film was a success. That same year, Ian also scored a webisode for the web series "Alpha Planet", directed by a college friend.
In March of 2013, Ian received an invitation to join a site called Stage 32 for film creatives. After joining, he met Joseph Bouvier, co-founder of Boston Indie Mafia; a non-profit organization for film creatives. Joseph invited Ian to Boston Indie Mafia's inaugural Hobnob and Social, where me met other film creatives. This past year, Boston Indie Mafia announced the Wicked Film Challenge and Ian immediately signed up, hoping for more exposure. He joined the team "Purple Cobras" lead by Haley McHatton, a film student at Fitchburg State University and scored their short film "Mr. Tickles", which was premiered at The Wicked Film Challenge Award Ceremony on June 27th at the Arts at the Armory in Somerville, where Ian won Outstanding Original Score.
