Stéphanie Héroux

Hi, I am Stéphanie Iancy Héroux-Brazeau. I am Anishinaabekwe, from Lac-Simon territory, which mean I am part of the Algonquin Nation amongst the First peoples of Canada. I am a storyteller, and I like to return to my sources, my roots to tell stories. Sometimes I tell stories from my ancestors, other time for the future generations that is gonna come after us.

I write to tell a message, to connect people together and show the world, from an Indigenous perspective who we really are. I tell stories so that our youths can listen to them and have a sense of safety in today’s world. I tell stories so that my kids can grow in their culture and so that they never have to endure what our last generation has gone through.
I reclaim my culture, do healing work and part of it is connecting deeper and deeper with my art.
