Anas Alshouhif is a Syrian filmmaker, based in Berlin since 2015.
He studies at the FilmArche eV. Berlin and made, since 2019, four short movies, in which he experimented around themes such as isolation, anxiety, identity, or oppression. To understand more of the collective film work he likes trying out every role on set, working as a sound person, set manager, or first AD every time he gets the chance. His main focus is on political, social-critical subjects, but on a micro cosmos level, trying to portray and understand individuals in their contexts. He is the co-founder of the La6izi community, Syrian artists collective that aims to create spaces of representation for marginalized voices, through public exhibitions, lectures, readings, concerts, film screenings, and performances.
