GENRE: Comedy, Biography
LOGLINE:

Adapted from my novel based upon my cousin's six years as an Emergency Medical Technician in the early 1980s, this chronicles his roller coaster ride as a rookie EMT where the difference between life and death is often measured in seconds.

SYNOPSIS:

One day Mark Bascomb is selling ice cream. The next he's fulfilled a lifelong ambition by getting hired at Krass Ambulance Service as an Emergency Medical Technician.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that Krass Ambulance Service represents the bottom of the barrel when it comes to anything remotely involved with professional paramedics.

Morgan Krass, the company's owner, is a tightwad who happily screws over his employees on a regular basis, including never having enough in the bank to cover more than half of his payroll.

With a crew of misfits, including Mark's partner, Knoll, who takes Mark under his wing to help him navigate the emotional and physical minefield that comes with the job, to Johnson and Baca, another driver-attendant team whose dependence on Johnson's questionable eyesight places everyone in their path in danger, and Morelle, the company's bitter dispatcher who develops an instant-dislike for Krass' newest employee, Mark certainly has his work cut out for him.

Add to that Krass' über-ugly daughter who has the hots for Mark, and an increasingly difficult series of medical emergencies, the longer Mark stays at Krass, the more he realizes he may not survive.

Ultimately, in a world where life and death are his constant companions, Mark comes to understand that sometimes being a bit crazy is all that keeps anyone from going insane.
