A widow and her daughter move to a new town where they open a greenhouse and partner up with the owner of a local business who may not be as perfect as he seems.
SYNOPSIS:
LEANNE and her daughter CASSIDY move to upstate New York and open a nursery and garden center one year after Leanne’s husband KEITH is murdered.
The night before they open, Leanne nearly dies after improperly installing her pesticide system. Moments before a toxic asphyxiation, she is rescued by WAYNE, a local fertilizer dealer.
After saving her life, Wayne fixes her pesticide system and suggests that the since they have professionally aligned interests, that they might be able to help each other. With a wink and a smile, they agree and a flood of reciprocal referrals follows. The resulting business boom for both of them lays the groundwork for a budding romance.
As Cassidy adjusts to her new school, her and DANIELA, Leanne’s best friend and colleague, try to make sense of the seemingly perfect Wayne who shows up exactly when Leanne is in danger. Daniela wants Leanne to start dating again but Cassidy doesn’t trust him.
Aided by her eccentric field hockey teammate REAGAN who is also an amateur hacker, Cassidy uncovers unsettling facts about Wayne’s past. He was present at the scene of two suspicious murders thought never a suspect in either of them.
As Wayne and Leanne’s business relationship grows, the feelings between them intensify. But despite her feelings, Leanne informs Wayne that she is not ready for romance. Wayne accepts her position but it is clear that his love for her remains.
After Daniela encourages Leanne to not rush into a relationship, she finds a snake in her bed. Literally. A day later, Cassidy nearly dies after ingesting an unknown toxin. Wayne then confesses his love for Leanne and the fact that he has loved her since they were in high school together twenty years ago. When Leanne rejects him, he reveals his dark side and violently insists that “She will love him back.”
Cassidy informs her mother of Wayne’s dark past and with Reagan’s help, they also learn that Wayne has a history of psychiatric problems. When the local SHERIFF, a close friend of Wayne’s, refuses to investigate him, Leanne realizes that her and Cassidy are on their own.
After learning that Cassidy was poisoned with Cyanide, Leanne realizes that Wayne is responsible. And that only she can stop him and protect what is left of her family. During a final showdown at her greenhouse, Daniela is murdered and Wayne confesses to the role he played in the death of Leanne’s high school boyfriend, his own wife and Leanne’s husband Keith.
With her and her daughter’s lives hanging in the balance, Leanne will either be another of Wayne’s victims…or weaponize his psychotic feelings for her and use them against him.
