Maureen Mahon is a screenwriter and producer living in Los Angeles.
Her film producer father gave her a Super-8 movie camera and mini editing bay when she was nine years old and she began making movies in her backyard. She studied art and drama at Orange Coast College, and then moved to Los Angeles where she worked in various film and music-related jobs, including set dresser, production assistant, studio manager, and as an assistant in the music department at Fries Entertainment. She went on to work in Business Affairs at the Samuel Goldwyn Company and New Line Cinema, while writing several screenplays. From there, she took a job at the exclusive boutique law firm, Gang, Tyre, Ramer & Brown in Beverly Hills. Maureen continued her love of music, singing with a jazz/cabaret ensemble called The Vicious Circle.
In 2001, a series of bizarre events prompted Maureen to quit her job and buy a one-way ticket to France to learn about the life of Edith Piaf. While there, she met nearly everyone living who had known Piaf and has a box full of interview tapes that have never been made public. She realized that Edith’s life was far too extraordinary to tell in 120 pages, so she shelved the project. Maureen started her own interior design firm and was one of the designers on HGTV’s House Hunters Renovation.
With the advent of streaming TV series, Maureen dusted off her project (PIAF) and has written it as a one-hour serialized television series. It has placed in several screenwriting competitions, including Screencraft, Launch Pad, Stage 32, Paris Women Festival, and the Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards.
Maureen also has a slate of dramatic projects that feature grounded, complex female characters who must fight to survive in high-stake worlds.
