Gilles LaPlante

Gilles Laplante has led an impressive career as a film and television producer with over
30 years of experience in the entertainment business. With over 100 credits to his name, Gilles has been a driving force in Vancouver’s film industry. Over the course of his career, he has moved from independent filmmaking to commercial production and business management with fervor. As Senior VP of Production at Reel One Pictures for 12 years Gilles produced films in Vancouver, Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Buffalo and Atlanta pioneering various budget models in those newfound production centers. Since stepping down from Reel One Gilles is currently the CEO of Kabinet Productions Inc. recently completing the new shingles Hallmark Original: Christmas Alone Together.
Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Gilles always had an keen interest in filmmaking from a young age. When Gilles realized he wasn’t being creatively challenged at Concordia University to pursuing a career in psychology, he decided to follow his film career in British Columbia where he attended the acclaimed Vancouver Film School. As he discovered his propensity as a naturalleader, manager and budgeteer Gilles founded his own film company while still in school and began to earn his living around the business through hard work and perseverance. Even before graduating Vancouver Film School’s full-time program in 1991, he had landed his first job through his production company and produced the “Silver” music video for the band Moist. From that first opportunity his commitment to the craft and business kept growing.
