About Gianis

Gianis Athanasiou Totonidis lives in Thessaloniki. From a very early age he liked explosions and his parents convinced him to study Chemistry (he is an A.U.Th. Graduate) for fear he might blow their house up. The ‘explosiveness’ of his psyche urged him to take up Cinematography.
He has completed his postgraduate studies with an A on Creative Writing, specifically in “Film Screenwriting & Television”, of the School of Fine Arts in the department of Cinematography in the A.U.Th.
He studied Direction and is a member of the Greek Directors Guild (G.D.G.) and the Federation of European Screen Directors (F.E.R.A.)
He is also a film critic, a member of the Pan-Hellenic Association of Film Critics (P.A.F.C.), of the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique (FIPRESCI) and of the Hellenic Film Academy.
He was a columnist in printed or electronic magazines, while he was also a Music Producer, an Editor in Radio and Television Film Broadcasts and a Television Presenter of Film Broadcasts.
Lately, he has been experimenting with writing, seeking ‘explosions’ of inspiration, the result of it being the book “10 Deranged Tales of Mystery, Horror & Fantasy,” published in 2020.
In that year, another eight short stories of his received distinctions in competitions in the genres of Horror and Fantasy.
In 2021 he published another book titled “E.M.O. (Emotions Most Oneiric),” based one the same titled script.
In 2022 he published another book titled “THE CURSED BOOK: 7 Deadly Sins”, based one the same titled script for mini series.
In the last three years he has completed ten scripts; three shorts, five feature-length, one TV Pilot and another one written in Greek (it has won the prize of award winner on London Greek Film Festival 2022 – Summer Edition). Six of them have received various awards at international festivals, through the FilmFreeaway platform. Recently, after a competition his TV Pilot project “THE CURSED BOOK: 7 Deadly Sins” has a rank on Coverfly and it is in the Top 46% of discoverable projects on Coverfly’s The Red List. Finally, from January 2022 he is a member of ISA (International Screenwriters’ Association).

    THE CURSED BOOK: 7 Deadly Sins Other ⋄ Horror It’s "Death Note" meets "The Evil Dead". A debt-ridden worker has a three day deadline to pay his dues and save his life. In the house that he is renovating, he discovers a book that fulfils wishes, but the more wishes he satisfies, the fastest he sinks into a nightmare. He will soon have twenty seconds left to save the world and his soul from the Darkness.
