About Jacqueline

Jacqueline Wagenstein is a Master of Arts and Culture from the Sorbonne, a Doctor of Humanities at INALCO – Paris and has also has completed a filmmaking course at the New York Film Academy. During her professional career she has been a curator of European festivals and an active partner in the teams of different cultural institutes. She is the founder, director and chief selectionist of the world’s first book to film festival CineLibri, one of the most beloved international forums held in Bulgaria annually with exclusive success. The festival events last 3 weeks each October in Sofia and another 10 cities, traditionally gather about 30 000 viewers who meet the most prominent figures of the world.
Jacqueline has co-produced several projects: a documentary devoted to Liv Ullmann’s 80th birthday with Liv Ullmann staring; a documentary devoted to Jean-Jacques Annaud, a music video titled “The Bright Side”, performed by Ruth Koleva; the short film "I know what you did", a 20-minute fiction film dedicated to Jorge Luis Borges for which she is also the director and scriptwriter. At the moment she is filming as main producer 6 series documentary film for Bulgarian national television which received funding from the National Film Center. She has two projects in development: Ask the wind, director Dimitar Kotzev and The Residence, director Oscar nominee Theodore Ushev. Her company Cinelibri is official distributor for Bulgaria of approximately 8 films yearly from companies like Playtime, Gaumont, True Colors, Lionsgate, Orange etc.
