About Cathy

Cathy has been working as a screenwriter for just over two years, mainly focussing on expanding her body of short form work. As a writer, she mainly focusses on female led narratives in the thriller genre, with elements of absurdism and horror. She is especially interested in examining how we interact with our surroundings as humans, and how setting and experience influences the build up and identity of characters.

Her first produced short, 'Bloom', was a meditative, sensitive take on how we address sexual assault in film told through a subtextual narrative which never mentioned sexual assault explicitly. The film was featured in Film Stories Magazine and completed a successful festival run.

Her second short, 'Foolsproof', was written in association with the NYFA and premiered at the Odeon, Greenwich in October 2021. The film is currently in the festival circuit. Cathy was also nominated for best original screenplay at the National Youth Film Awards for this project.

Her most recent shorts 'The Cornucopia Club' and 'Final Parade', are abou tto hit festival circuits, and have both been produced with Silicon Gothic Ltd. More information on the shorts can be found via the Silicon Gothic website below.

After these two shorts complete their festival runs, Cathy is planning to move onto longer form work, with the fourth draft of her debut feature recently completed, as well as a thriller/drama six-part TV show.
