SYNOPSIS:
Signs of Love is a moving, character-driven drama that follows Lakisha Vaughn, a determined young mother raising her nonverbal autistic son, Dwight, in the face of financial hardship and emotional isolation. Abandoned by Dwight Kershaw, Dwight’s estranged father, Lakisha works multiple jobs while pursuing a college degree, refusing to let life’s obstacles silence her son’s potential or her own dreams.
When Lakisha’s compassionate sister, LaDonna steps in to help, she begins teaching Dwight American Sign Language, unlocking a new world of expression and connection for the boy. Through this journey, LaDonna discovers Dwight’s hidden gift for baking, and together they begin crafting stunning, expressive cakes - a creative outlet that soon becomes a symbol of hope and unity for the entire family.
Meanwhile, LaDonna reaches out to Dwight Kershaw, teaching him ASL as well, in an effort to rebuild trust and communication between him, his son, and Lakisha. As old wounds resurface and new bonds form, each member of the family must confront their own pride, pain, and fears of inadequacy.
Heartfelt, uplifting, and deeply human, Signs of Love explores the power of communication beyond words - showing that sometimes the greatest signs of love are the ones we can’t speak, only feel.
