SYNOPSIS:
For five years, Malik Moore, a people-pleasing construction owner, has kept his white wife, Mandy, a secret from his unapologetically Black, and fiercely judgmental family. But when he brings her, and the news of her pregnancy to his mother's annual Juneteenth dinner, the Moore family home quickly devolves into a cultural warzone. His mother, Gina, scarred by a past betrayal, weaponizes her untreated trauma and deep-seated prejudices, determined to drive Mandy away to maintain her matriarchal control. As microaggressions escalate into explosive arguments, unearthed family secrets, and a sudden medical emergency, Mandy is pushed to her absolute breaking point. Forced to choose between the toxic loyalty of his bloodline and the family he is building, Malik must shed his passive nature and confront his mother head-on. Bonds & Boundaries is a sharp, single-location dramedy that explores the painful, but necessary act of severing toxic ties to protect the ones you love.
