Staff Writer for the hit show NCIS: Los Angeles. Writing scripts for assigned episodes, including scenes, dialogue, and action sequences. Revising scripts based on feedback from showrunner, producers, and network executives. Collaborating with the writers' room to "break" stories; outlining episodes, creating character arcs, and ensuring that the show's tone and structure are consistent across episodes. Pitching episode ideas, plot points, character developments, and creative story arcs during brainstorming sessions with other writers. Conducting research on real world topics or technical details and working with technical advisors like former NCIS agents and FBI consultants to ensure accuracy in storytelling.
As a staff writer, I was involved in every phase of the production process for the episodes I wrote. This included working in prep, where I liaised with various departments such as set design, costume, props, stunts, production, and camera to ensure the showrunner’s vision was executed correctly. I collaborated with the director and key crew members during production meetings to address any script related questions and adjust for logistical considerations, ensuring each element was aligned with the episode’s creative intent.
During production, I worked closely with the director and actors on set to ensure that the performances and scenes adhered to the script and the showrunner’s direction. This involved script changes as needed and ensuring continuity throughout filming.
In post production, I was present for key stages like editing, sound mixing, and sound spotting. I collaborated with the post-production team to make sure the episode’s pacing, tone, and technical details (including sound effects and music) met the show’s high standards and followed the showrunner’s creative vision. This hands on involvement allowed me to oversee the episode from script to final delivery, ensuring it was ready for air.
