HEMINGWAY'S SILVER

HEMINGWAY'S SILVER
By Curtis DeBerg

GENRE: Period Piece
LOGLINE:

In the final days of his life, Ernest Hemingway sends a sealed confession to the Kansas City Star—revealing that his most celebrated war story was a lie. A young journalist races to uncover the truth hidden for over a century.

SYNOPSIS:

When a sealed package arrives at the Kansas City Star newsroom in 2028—postmarked from the Mayo Clinic and signed by Ernest Hemingway—a young journalist discovers what could be the greatest literary confession of the century. Inside: a letter, a map, and a trail of guilt that leads back to the muddy trenches of World War I Italy.

In 1918, an ambitious 18-year-old Hemingway joins the American Red Cross, desperate to find adventure—and a story. What he finds instead is chaos, death, and the blurred lines between courage and recklessness. When an Italian soldier is killed in a shelling incident Hemingway may have provoked, a lie is born that will define his legacy. That lie earns him a medal… and haunts him for the rest of his life.

Told across dual timelines, Hemingway’s Silver is a historical fiction thriller that examines the making of a myth and the buried cost of literary immortality. Based on real events and letters, the story blends fact and fabrication to explore what happens when a legend finally tells the truth—just not while he’s alive.
