As mystery surrounds the death of his older brother, a high school football star spirals into addiction — until the game becomes his only shot at redemption.
SYNOPSIS:
Crackback is a grounded, emotional teen sports drama with something deeper at its core — grief, masculinity, and identity. It follows Miles, a quiet but talented high school quarterback dealing with toxic pressure from his father and a win-at-all-costs coach. But under it all, he’s haunted by the brother who died in infancy — the brother who was supposed to have this life, this jersey, this legacy.
For over 80 pages, the film feels like a traditional sports movie — but then it twists. What looks like a triumphant football finale becomes something quieter, more emotional, and far more honest. The climax isn’t about a trophy. It’s about one play. One decision. One connection to the past.
I wrote this over two years as a young writer with Asperger’s, and I’m looking for a director who understands that strength doesn’t always shout. If you’re drawn to stories about internal struggle, pressure, and unspoken grief — I’d love to share the script.
