A young scientist sets out to change the world, or does he?

Background:

A young American student, living with his mother in Byron Bay, Australia, is accepted into a Think Tank University in California. He is there to prove his thesis on weed control through Genetic targeting. It is the same University where his father died under mysterious circumstances.

The Premise:

The problem with Genetic targeting of a specific weed, is that it can be use on anything that grows, including cereal crops, like wheat. The University is half owned by Senator Jeffries, once the Dean of the University. He sees the research as a way of making money. The US Government who own the other half, see it as a weapon to threaten enemies with or annihilate the illegal growing of drugs.

The Nemesis:

Adrian has many Nemesis. The American Government want him kept in confinement. The Cartels want him dead.

The Hero and the Twist.

Adrian is the hero. He has set this all up to punish Senator Jeffries, who killed his father for money. Brett Heckle of the FBI, is also a hero who tries to rescue Adrian from the Cartels. The twist is the Blight never worked it was all a con, to get revenge.
