By Gabriella Walls

GENRE: Drama, Crime
LOGLINE:

Sparrow has been a driver for Los Angeles' most petty criminals since she could reach the gas pedal, but she begins to question everything when her boss tasks her with delivering a shocking package.

SYNOPSIS:

Sparrow is a driver for the Network, run by her motherly boss, Mother Komodo or "MK". The Network chauffeurs Los Angeles' low-level criminals to where they need to go. One night, MK tasks Sparrow with a special assignment: deliver a package and don't ask questions. When the package is revealed to be a young girl, Sparrow is stopped in her tracks - this isn't what they do at the Network.

Sparrow ultimately makes the decision to run, taking the kid, Lily, along with her. MK sends Ray and Wolf, members of Sparrow's crew, after her. Sparrow and Lily take refuge at Ronnie's Auto Repair but are quickly discovered. Wolf demands the kid. Sparrow doesn't give, manages to escape thanks to Ronnie, and is almost shot by Ray, who just can't pull the trigger. As Sparrow flees, Wolf regains control of the situation and shoots Ronnie dead, then shoots Ray and abandons him to die.

We then travel across town and meet Detective Waters, investigating the disappearance of a child and the murder of the parents. She's been on MK's trail for years. Upon forcing some information out of a neighbor, she's off with the lead.

Now out in the darkness of the city, Sparrow does her best to protect Lily as they dash through alleyways. They run into Smokes, a fellow underworld colleague. Smokes, along with her odd crew, reveal they are here to take the kid as well. Apparently, MK is utilizing more than just the network.

Back with Waters, the detective comes across a bloodied young man hobbling in the street - it's Ray! She picks him up and takes him to the nearest hospital. Before the nurses take him away, Ray gives Waters his phone. It's a tracker...leading to Sparrow.

Sparrow isn't ready to give Lily up. Smokes insists with the fists of her thugs. Sparrow takes a beating. Luckily, Waters arrives just in time to scare off the goons, saving Sparrow and Lily. They all go back to the hospital where Waters gives Sparrow the whole story about MK and the history of the Network. It turns out, MK killed her husband many years ago in self-defense but was ultimately convicted and put away, separating her from her son. While in prison, her son dies in an accident. Now fueled by only rage and revenge, MK escapes prison and starts hunting. For who? The mothers on the jury that put her away. These were the mothers and families of Ray, Wolf, and Sparrow. The cycle is now repeating as the original three are grown, starting with Lily. MK has an addiction to being a mother.

With this new information, Sparrow goes to see Ray in his hospital room. They reconcile. They hug. They kiss. Ray's been wanting to do that for a long time.

Bang! Wolf comes back onto the scene, showing up at the hospital, fed up and ready to take Lily back to MK. To prove herself, to prove to everyone that she's the best. There's a shootout, but the team can't beat Wolf. Sparrow gives Lily up, but not before slipping something into Lily's pocket. As soon as Wolf is gone. Sparrow demands Water's car keys. Off they go.

In a fast-paced car chase, Sparrow and Waters hurry after Wolf and Lily. Dodging traffic, revving down the LA freeways, and blasting through downtown. Sparrow's fast, but not fast enough. Wolf throws them off with a hand grenade, sending Water's car off the road. Sparrow and Waters rally and continue on foot to the Network HQ. They arrive - but now MK has Lily! MK sends Wolf after Sparrow. Waters follows MK out to the truck yard.

Sparrow and Wolf fight in hand-to-hand combat. Wolf's rage has completely taken over. Even when Sparrow tries to tell her the truth, Wolf just won't listen. In the truck yard, Waters ducks between truck beds and shadows, in a tense shootout with MK, who holds Lily close. Both conflicts rise and end with Sparrow defeating Wolf, killing her, and with Lily, pulling something out of her pocket - a knife from Ray! She stabs it into MK's leg, giving Waters a clear shot. She takes it. Down goes MK.

Back at the hospital, Sparrow gives Ray the updates and says goodbye...for now. Sparrow needs to be free for once in her life. And she can't wait for him to get better. Ray understands and gives her the keys to a secret vehicle. Waters sends her off, promising Lily's safety. Sparrow leaves and finds Ray's secret car. She drives off out of the city and into the mysterious distance. Waters tells Ray everything and holds him while he cries. Sparrow looks out ahead into the future, freer than she's ever been.
