In the brutal "Blood and Guts" era of American karate, a sociopathic martial artist returns from Vietnam and builds a dojo on Chicago's South Side, only to discover that the path he hoped would restrain his violent nature may be the very thing that unleashes it.
SYNOPSIS:
MASTER is a psychological martial arts thriller set in Chicago during the brutal "Blood and Guts" era of American karate.
Julius Griffin returns home from war with a black belt, a growing reputation, and a mind increasingly detached from reality. Plagued by disturbing visions, haunted by voices, and incapable of genuine empathy, Julius clings to martial arts as a way to control violent urges he has carried since childhood.
Opening a dojo on Chicago's South Side, he quickly attracts students, admiration, and influence. To many, Julius appears to be the embodiment of martial discipline: focused, confident, and committed to excellence. But beneath the rituals, titles, and philosophy is a man struggling to suppress something far darker.
As his school grows, so does his authority. In a culture that celebrates toughness, domination, and physical extremity, Julius' most dangerous traits are mistaken for strength. The more respect he receives, the less reason he has to hide who he truly is...
