Born in Yorkshire, David has a B.Sc. in Business Operation & Control, and qualifications in several other professional disciplines as well as filmmaking. He worked in various industries up to management level, before deciding to move to a full-time career in film in 2003.
Having worked in both Camera and Lighting departments over several years, he has nearly 100 credits as Cinematographer or Lighting Director (including work with Michael Sheen, Vincent Regan, Philip Pullman, Philip Bloom, Phil Hawkins and Danny Lacey), and a reputation for getting strong results on a minimal budget. As well as his work on-set, David also has post-production experience, having worked in digital image manipulation since the early days of PhotoShop, and having fully graded two feature films and contributed to other projects.
Drawing on both his on-set experience in the film industry and his business qualifications and management background, David has also worked as a producer on over a dozen feature film projects in the UK — and, having joined The FPC in 2013, there are more in the pipeline...
