GHOSTS OF DAMNATION
By Ryan Gibbons

GENRE: Western
LOGLINE:

A brutal outlaw is given the chance to start a new life, but his violent past continues to catch up with him.

SYNOPSIS:

Willie Rupp is born into a loving home, but faces evil very early on in his life. That evil is notorious outlaw Sam Connelly and his ruthless gang.

Without much of a choice in the matter, Willie begins riding with Sam’s gang. Over the next few years, Willie kills, robs, and spends a lot of time in the saloons. Despite the sinister nature of his deeds, Willie does live by a code, he doesn’t kill women, and he doesn’t kill children. He doesn't kill women because he was very fond of his mother (even though he didn't know her as long as he wanted to), and he doesn't kill kids because he doesn't think it's right. He believes that the rest of this gang lives by the same code.

The older Willie gets, the more he comes to blows with Sam, and when Willie’s code is broken in grand fashion, he doesn’t know if he can believe in anything anymore and sets out to destroy the men he once called friends.

This endeavor takes him to Mexico, where he gets tangled up in a revolution and is wrongfully imprisoned.

After fifteen years, Willie returns to America, and shortly after, commits murder.

Willie spends the next little while on the run, before he meets Belle, a beautiful rancher who wants to change him for the better.

As he tries to make a life with Belle, a man resurfaces, a man from Willie’s past, a young boy that Willie had let live, a man who now controls his fate.

I love this one. I've always wanted to write a western, but not with a 'typical' western story. COWBOYS & ALIENS comes to mind, but I wouldn't go that route.
