Hi Stephen, I like to act in movies.

Indie Film Explosion!

Is the Indie film explosion really going to work with so many not so great films being made, or is it a great grounding for aspiring artists to flex their muscles and be recognized?

Stephen Marinaccio

Well then, I guess you just answered your own original question - and it feels like you always knew it. So, "Yes" there are more opportunities for actors to get noticed with the perceived "boom" in proliferation of smaller projects. -- All my best. Take care.

Aldon Baker

It is a great opportunity. As long as the films YOU personally contribute are great. Its all that matters, if everyone starts doing that... It will be okay!

Russell Buchanan

True Aldon, there are lot's of people trying to jump onto the trend like Zombie and End of world films that are not quite good enough. They are good to see at least for what we should not do.

Alan Duggan
Pilot

Hey...does anyone have connections at HBO, Showtime, Showcase, FX, TMN, etc...have a Pilot to showcase..cheers

Antonio Ingram

Your best bet is getting yourself an agent because that is the only person those people will talk to and even if you call that is what they will say.

Stephen Marinaccio

I agree, get an agent. Your chances of "simply" walking in the door and getting your material read is near nil. Sorry - that's how it is. Best of luck.

Hardy Awadjie

TV doesn't want to make the same mistake the music industry made by allowing unsolicited materials. Getting thousands of CDs every day. Best bet is an agent most definitely.

Stephen Marinaccio

Thanks for checking out my profile. I am a DGA UPM who does budgets and schedules - then makes the movie according to the plan. That's what I do, and I love doing it.

How safe is your copyright at screenplay competitions?

There are many screenplay/scriptwriting competitions online. My question is how safe is a writer's copyright during these competitions? I have read somewhere that one cannot copyright an idea but a product, e.g. a script etc. What would stop an unscrupulous person from stealing an idea from a script...

You should use both WGA and copy right. The way I see it is that it will be a lot of trouble for somebody to take your idea like a logline and synopsis or even a script and create a new story based on...
