Hey Tom! How's your music going?
Hi Cleo a good friend of ours Melissa tried to arrange for us to meet some time back. I think it's coffee time
I know! I have been so busy, my apologies
Tom thank you for the add! Your work in Django Unchained was great!!
so welcome my friend
You're hilarious! And probably great at what you do. But since you hardly ever come online to see this, you won't know about the staring role I have for you...just kidding, in case you do see this. Still I wish you best of luck. Having spent 15 year in the Hollywood grinder, I can empathize with the trial and tribulations.
LOL Stuart I had my email hacked and got locked out for a while but the staff at stage 32 care about their members and help me get it back
Hi Tom. My name is Barry Dunne. Congrats to yourself and your team on your latest achievements! I love to perform and have been doing it since I was 9 years old. I would really love to star in TV Shows, Movies, Musicals and plays. Can you please give me advice on how to get myself out there? Hope you can contact me. Thanks, Barry :)
Hi Dan, I am not sure what you mean by get yourself out there. Do you mean out here as in Los Angeles? Or just to put yourself out in the community in Ireland?
Hi Tom, thanks for connecting!

I pay $125 a year to be on IMDB so you will know what I have done lately and that yes I am reason that Twelve Years a Slave won best picture and the reason True Detective is the number one cable show. I pay $450 a year to be on the casting sites and about $600 a year to keep my head shots current so you know what I look like today and I don't waste your time. I spend $150 a month for acting training, plus rehearsing scene workshops to keep the skills honed that I spent over 5 years at $350 a month mastering, ready for your movie. I've been a fighter and stunt player, stunt coordinated countless films, and spent thousands on stunt equipment and months in the hospital injured. I spend about $4 in gas and $2 in parking to do an audition for you. So when you want me to come make your movie for free or deferred, I think it is understandable that I might want to throw you out a window! You,re Welcome!

That said there are many highly talented actors of all ages that have not a credit that an indie filmmakers can audition to get a film made and funded. It is a win win for all, and many careers are started this way.

Expand commentTom, well said! 'If you are a film maker then get funding and hire your talent'. 2013 I was cast in two Indie films. In both cases the funding came from a baker plus savings from jobs in the industry. Both film makers wrote their own scripts, directed and produced. We were paid £25 per filming day, and the remaining £175 per filming day will be paid when the Initial Production Budget has been achieved. Both directors are highly sought after to work with, which clinched the deal for many of us who were offered the parts. I come to the conclusion that actors could take a cut if the script is brilliant and the director a genius. Otherwise no pay, no play!
Hi, I'm about to start casting for my next short film and i want to hold a casting call so i can use actors other than my personal friends. I want to know where is the best place to hold one and how do i actually find actors and get people to show up. This will be my first time holding one so any tips and feedback is welcome, thanks.
Afaik, Jon is in Newcastle, Australia, so Actors Access will not be helpful, unless it is to see the format of how things are done here in the US.
Hey John, Just came across this, I'm an actor, what and where is the gig, if you need more actors contact me. Gypsytuskdreams@gmail.com

The crew is able to use expensive equipment from cameras to lights to film but are unable to pay their actors? Is there something I am missing here?
Nothing wrong with being new at the game.
for new actors to get there experance and video footage, red is the best way but pick wisely

Too many of them are more interested in being a tech geek than they are in the art of telling stories with pictures. Don't get me wrong, love my tech but it's ever evolving and getting overly engaged in that notion is kind of foolish. Use the best stuff available at the time of the shoot. Done. I advise you look at their existing reel (dp and director) and if you have confidence that the combo will give you some interesting stuff for your reel, go for it. Then there's the rub. Tracking down that footage for your reel is a whole other issue. ha.

You're probably correct Bruce, but boredom also creeps in when you achieve very quickly as much as she has... and you start doing ridiculous things like she does.
I recently found out that when submitting for an audition in a town that I don't live in, to note that I will cover my travel and lodging expenses to the audition and that I will remain available during call backs. Is there other information that is important to include? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Not true Suzanne, If you are not local it is a given that production pay your travel. Many time actors that are not local will apply as local that is when you will have to cover out own expense. I rarely work in my home town and I have never had to pay my own travel

Expand commentI don't know if it's different in the US but in the UK very seldom would theatre audition travel be funded or subsidised, unless it is a recall and not held at a central location close to where you live. All attendance of auditions held in London would be deemed to be at the actors expense. Regional companies may well hold local auditions and other auditions in London. If after auditioning in London you were then invited to a recall at the theatre company's regional base then it would be a paid trip. Film castings, which invariably happen in London, do not pay for initial travel but, if recalled, will pay your travel and other expenses associated with such recalls.
Tom, are you referring to auditioning or actually having been "cast"? I was referring to the audition aspect only.
I actually hate this term. I don't believe you'd call a doctor in training a "wannabedoctor"or a training lawyer a "wannabe lawyer" I have seen this term thrown around even here where we are industry professionals. rookie or not, I think referring to young careers as wannabes is extremely rude. just a thought.

The person who comes in to the room and makes new and exciting and energetic choices is the one who gets the room's attention and gets the job. My class is fun and hard work at the same time and very very encouraging. That is why so many of my students work steadily. They use themselves and not a character, they have excellent technique and everyone falls in love with them because they are never boring. That is why my book is called HOW TO MAKE YOUR AUDIENCE FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU. Check out the first chapter at DerynWarren.com. The head of HBO casting said in a quote on the cover, "I wish every actor who auditioned for me had read this book first. "
Deryn, I have no doubt your class is amazing. I will eventually check into taking classes with you but have a different path at the moment. From you writing I get that you are positive and motivational person/coach.
I rell about wannabe rodeo cowboys in my book. But I do explain what makes em wannabees!

One is a historical action film that would take a big budget to make, but I think better illustrates my writing talent or a thriller script which would be cheaper to make and is probably more commercial? Knowing that the chance of selling a spec script by a new writer is very very unlikely, so my best hope is to get my work out there and read so I might get an opportunity for a writing assignment or even just a little traction so my future scripts will be considered. Which would you put forth?

It has been very hard but a business proposal needs be done in which you put your vision in short detail, about yourself, what the budget is & why. How you plan to execute this. Why out is beneficial to the investors, what they get in return, it must be worth it, & you need to give them a way to write it off on their taxes. This gives them incentive to give. Jan. 1st is when they open up for investing do get on it if you want this to happen, cause count down is getting ready to start. They give to first come first serve of those who can make it great for them. God luck to you!

Introduce yourself and tell them what you are interested in. You can also hit 'browse people' and you can search by name, place and occupation in film or theatre. Leave the name field blank, type Fort Worth for the location and then hit producers, directors and actors and you'll have more possible connections.
Use your common sense. If something seems fishy, it probably is.
They should banned celebrities from using this type of funding. They are taking away from the struggling artists that really need the help. The problem is that the sites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter will not stop it because it's a lot of publicity for them.
