A young women discovers a mysterious record and turntable that connects her to a legendary DJ's lost love story and the stunning truth that he's the father she never new.
SYNOPSIS:
Inspired by true events.
At the height of Cleveland’s 90's underground dance scene, TraKtion nightclub was where legends were made. Behind the booth stood DJ Diato (Tony) — a local kid who climbed his way to command the city's most electric dance floor. His sound defined an era, and beside him was Brooke, the women whose passion and energy fueled his rise. The two were inseparable, bound by love and the raw pulse of the nightlife.
One stormy night in 2004, during a packed set, Brooke steps into the booth to lift the needle off the turntable — and in that instant, a freak electrical surge rips through the club. She’s knocked to the floor and rushed to the hospital, where doctors make a life-altering discovery: she’s pregnant. Tony never learns the truth. Believing he’s destined for something bigger, he leaves for Europe chasing his dream, while Brooke stays behind to raise their daughter, Cassie, alone.
Years later, after Brooke’s death, Cassie wakes from a vivid dream reliving the visions of the night of the surge. When she finds a photograph of her mother taken that night at TraKtion, she’s drawn into a mystery that blurs the line between memory of the dream and the supernatural. She discovers the original record and turntable from TraKtion in a thrift store that contains a request list of music from her mom. Each song she hears triggers a vision of unlocking the past: Tonys rise to fame and love for Broke.
Driven by these visions, Cassie tracks down Tony’s old friends from the photo that piece together the story. The trail leads to Tony living in a nursing home and haunted by regret. When Cassie finally meets him, the truth shatters them both: the woman who inspired him was also the love he lost — and Cassie is the daughter he never knew.
As the anniversary of the surge approaches, Cassie becomes convinced that fate is pulling Tony and his friends back to TraKtion. Inside the dark, abandoned building, Tony places the scarred vinyl on the turntable one last time. When the record spins, the walls light up, the floor hums, and the club rebuilds itself in sound and memory. Tony and his friends turn younger for one last dance and in this transcendent moment, Tony and Brooke are reunited where it all began, sharing one final dance before the music — and Tony himself — fades into light.
Years later, Cassie’s daughter Lani performs before thousands at a Music Festival, carrying forward the legacy of DJ Diato — proof that love, rhythm, and memory never truly die.
