RUV RUV
By Joseph Cockrell

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

When identical twins, one gay the other straight, secretly swap identities to fix their love lives, their plan backfires when pretending to be each other forces them to face the very insecurities they’ve spent years avoiding.

SYNOPSIS:

Identical twins Joe and John share a face, and almost nothing else. Joe, a polished gay publicist in West Hollywood, has turned self-protection into an art form, analyzing every date until he finds a reason to walk away. John, a straight firefighter still raw from divorce, runs into burning buildings for a living and freezes the moment a conversation turns honest.

When John is mistaken for Joe at a drag brunch and effortlessly charms a man named Alex, their friend Darnell proposes the kind of plan only a best friend would risk: the brothers will impersonate each other on first dates. It is supposed to be a joke. Instead, it works. Posing as Joe, John falls into an easy connection with architect Marcus.

Posing as John, Joe finds something real with designer Sarah. But the lie they built to protect their hearts starts putting those hearts in real danger, and it unravels fast. Joe's ex-boyfriend Curtis ambushes John mid-date and tears open every wound Joe has spent years hiding behind good manners and better tailoring. Joe's assistant Gordon, quietly devoted for years, finally says the thing he has never let himself say.

When the truth catches up to both brothers at once, Marcus walks away, Sarah feels exactly the kind of betrayal she has spent her life trying to avoid, and Joe and John are left facing the one thing their entire experiment was designed to help them dodge: themselves.

What they find on the other side is the whole point. Joe stops managing his feelings for Gordon long enough to have them. John stops performing an apology and finally means one. And when the family they built by accident gathers around one table, and one more knock comes at the door, Ruv Ruv asks the question it's been asking since two toddlers invented their own private language for love: what does it cost to say the easiest true thing you know how to say?
