DO YOU WANNA DANCE?

DO YOU WANNA DANCE?
By Azel Carstens

GENRE: Thriller / Suspense, Horror
LOGLINE:

After years of rejection, a socially invisible woman turns a simple question—“Do you wanna dance?”—into a deadly ritual, targeting the men who say no.

SYNOPSIS:

Set in 2002, against a backdrop of neon-lit clubs and nostalgic 90s music, Do You Wanna Dance? follows a woman who has spent her life being overlooked—dismissed in the very spaces meant for connection.

By night, she enters dance floors and crowded parties with a quiet hope, asking a single question: “Do you wanna dance?” When the answer is no, humiliation gives way to something darker. What begins as an emotional breaking point evolves into a pattern—rejection becomes a trigger, and the question becomes a ritual.

As her crimes escalate, so does her control. The chaos of her first acts gives way to precision, as each encounter becomes less about revenge and more about reclaiming power in a world that has denied her validation. Midway through the series, a pivotal moment reframes her actions: during an intimate, chilling encounter, she confronts her reflection and quietly admits, “I just want someone to say yes.”

Driven not by rage but by longing, she begins to reshape herself—her presence, her confidence, her identity—blurring the line between who she is and who she believes she needs to be to finally be chosen.

But control comes at a cost. As the ritual continues, the meaning behind it begins to erode, leaving behind an unsettling emptiness.

In the final episode, the expected consequences never arrive. Instead, the story returns to the dance floor. A man approaches her and asks the question she has asked so many times before: “Do you wanna dance?”

For the first time, she says yes.

Cut to black.
