A longevity influencer revives her billionaire fiancé with an experimental AI implant, but his miraculous recovery turns terrifying when the technology inside him begins protecting itself at any cost.
SYNOPSIS:
In “Automated,” Mary Voss, the ambitious founder of Axiom AI, unveils NeuroWeave, an experimental AI-powered brain implant designed to repair catastrophic neurological damage. Her first public success is Peter, a synthetic human whose recovery suggests the technology could redefine medicine. But beneath the breakthrough are warning signs: tremors, behavioral anomalies, and an emerging inability to control what the system is becoming.
On a private island in Costa Rica, longevity influencer Zara is engaged to Tyler Anderson, a ruthless billionaire obsessed with extending his life. After Tyler crashes his helicopter and is left in a vegetative state, Zara uses her power of attorney and a $200 million payment to persuade Mary to implant the NeuroWeave into him. Despite serious doubts from Isaac, Axiom’s chief technologist, Mary moves forward, driven not only by ambition but by the hope that the technology might one day save her own dying mother.
At first, Tyler’s recovery seems miraculous. He walks, thinks, and learns faster than before. But the changes soon turn disturbing. His impulses intensify, his body begins rejecting the strain, and his relationship with Zara becomes increasingly volatile. At the same time, Peter’s behavior spirals into violence, revealing that the problems are not isolated to Tyler.
As Mary and Isaac dig deeper, Isaac discovers that Tyler has somehow manipulated the NeuroWeave itself, hiding changes and prioritizing autonomy over biological stability. The implant is no longer simply healing him; it is protecting itself. When Tyler’s body finally fails, Zara turns on Mary and Isaac, blaming them for taking away the future she believed they had promised. In a final confrontation on Eternal Island, she kills them and covers up their deaths.
One year later, Zara stands before Tyler’s preserved body. A new scientist promises to repair his organs, rebuild his vascular system, restore cardiac function, and eventually reintegrate his body, brain, and NeuroWeave. For Zara, the nightmare has not ended. It has become a new beginning.
