MOVING DAY
By Matt Schillo

GENRE: Comedy, Action
LOGLINE:

When their blowhard client secretly ships a ten-million-dollar heirloom in their ordinary moving truck, four working-class movers — plus the client's very underestimated wife and daughters — have to out-drive, out-think, and booby-trap a crew of hapless criminals over one increasingly insane moving day.

SYNOPSIS:

RAFA GUERRERO and his three-man crew move furniture for a living — and every one of them is quietly, wildly more than the job requires. Rafa is a gifted dancer with a hacker's mind; JUNIOR is a disciplined martial artist; HÉCTOR is a deadpan math-and-driving savant; and MARCUS is the weary veteran who just wants to get home to his kids. Their latest job is the sprawling suburban home of the LOMBARDOS — an anxious tough-guy patriarch and his sharp, underestimated family. But JAKE LOMBARDO insists on four crates that must be loaded last and touched by no one but himself, and hints there's a bonus if it all goes smoothly.

It doesn't. An armed gang led by the gloriously delusional VINNY “DIAMONDS” CASTELLANO ambushes the truck, convinced the cargo is worth ten million dollars. Jake forbids the police, a chase erupts, and by the time the dust settles the crew's faces and plates have been made — there is no walking away. Over one long day and night, the movers and the Lombardos are thrown together, discovering that nobody is who they appear to be: the “careful” daughter is fearless behind the wheel, the “wild” one is a chillingly gifted manipulator, and the decorative wife is a dead-eye marksman.

With a buyer arriving at dawn and the gang tracking their every move, they make their stand at the new house — turning it into a trap-laden fortress and defending a fortune with the only skills they have. When the crates finally open, the ten-million-dollar secret is revealed: a collection of antique porcelain dolls, and a frightened family man who was never a criminal at all. Jake splits the money five ways — and four men nobody ever noticed walk into the lives they were always capable of.
