Hey... I was wondering what people's perspectives are regarding having talent attached to a script prior to pitching? Most specifically related to actors, but comments welcomed regarding crew, producer, etc. Thanks and cheers!

Expand commentHello Kinga, Sorry for the very short notice but if you would like to go to a film premier tomorrow evening please consider yourself invited. The film, Lost Tears, tells the story of a young artist whose last chance at love coincides with an opportunity for revenge. Which will he choose? The film starts at 9:30 at Kino Luna (Nr. Plac Zbawiciela) and there will be the opportunity for some wine and a chat in the lobby before the screening, so get there a little earlier. Oh, the best bit, it's all free. Nb. The film has a 50minute running time, so a featurette.
Btw, please feel free to bring a friend or two.
Well worth reading, and for those who think the first 10 pages aren't important, some readers stop reading if not hooked by page 5.
I don't wish to be an anorak Joleene but you may wish to correct the following line from your article or you will be very busy indeed in 2109, "I would like to now say that I’ll write a script per day in 2019.." Yes you meant read:-) Great article though.
This guy is a great writer. I love this article.

Just a thought, feel free to get in touch if this might be of interest. In any case good luck with your writing. Garrett
How much dirt to put in a script, how much foul language, how much Violence?
I agree 100% Dr. Huizing. I believe we once counted over 120 'F-Bombs' in 'Scarface.'
If you keep true to the story, put whatever you need to in.
I would go even beyond Leon and say TOTALLY organic to the story. I despise watching violence, for example, but because the characters and storylines in BREAKING BAD were utterly compelling, I hung on every moment of the way. It should never, ever feel tacked on.

In a Director's Context....Define Story in one sentence. I dare you.....we all might learn a thing or two worth knowing...and using.
Honesty in performance that reflects the emotional core of the story.

Expand commentIn the context of a director, I'd say a story is an excuse to fool a viewer to listen to a disguised, or sometimes even intentionally hidden, statement about society, morals or a deeper general truth; so that the viewer changes his mind on a topic or that he believes he has reached a new understanding of a matter on his own, without realizing he has been cleverly manipulated into creating the thoughts he believes are his own, by a carefully crafted composition. Now watch Inception again with that in mind and figure out what Nolan is trying to tell you... Sci-fi tends to be much deeper than people think.
Will direct movies for food......with that being said, a story is about turning on the audience and making them hungry for the delivery in a multitude of twists and turns in a character's reach for his goals.

Indeed. The only way to really learn all the factors and nuances is to experience it first hand.
Run it by their agent if they have one.

If the talent likes your work, then either them or their talent agency/managers can go to the producers and say they wanna make it.
