About Payton

PAYTON has extensive credits in features, television, and commercials as a Producer, Line Producer, Unit Production Manager, Assistant Director and Location Manager. Recent feature credits include Cowgirls ‘n Angels (as Line Producer), with Bailee Madison, James Cromwell and Jackson Rathbone; The Lamp (Line Producer/Unit Production Manager), featuring Louis Gossett Jr. and Jason London; Heaven’s Rain (Line Producer), starring Mike Vogel and Taryn Manning; and Playback (Unit Production Manager), starring Christian Slater. In 2007-08 Payton was the Creative Services - Director of Production, Operations and Talent Relations for Starz Entertainment Group.
Other film credits include the Oscar-nominated Junebug and 21 Grams, the Sundance Festival award-winning feature Forty Shades of Blue, the features Night at the Museum, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Bringing up Bobby, Lake City and Comedy Central’s television series Stella. Payton also produced the award-winning feature drama Madison, and co-produced the feature comedy Feed the Fish, produced by and starring Tony Shalhoub. Both these small films played several festivals and have taken home multiple Jury Prizes. Payton has also worked on numerous commercials for companies such as Pepsi, American Express, Dairy Queen, Dr. Pepper, and the NFL.
As a writer, Payton has written screenplays and treatments for numerous producers and production companies. He’s also created promotional copy for clients that range from Mountain Dew to Warner Brothers, and has written for various publications, newspapers and websites. When not on a distant set, Payton lives and writes in the mountains of Colorado with his beautiful wife, their 7-year-old daughter Sierra and their Australian shepherd, Kodiak.
