Shalonda SJ Johnson, professionally known as SJ, is originally from Hampton, Virginia. Since a teenager she has pursued her dream of becoming a writer and an actress. Upon graduation, she left her hometown to study the techniques of acting in the extensive Theater Program at Temple University. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater, she decided not to accept any of the recruiting offers from ten prestigious graduate schools.
Instead, her intense passion compelled her to break into the business. This lead to additional training at The Actor's Center in Philadelphia and TVI Studios in New York City. To date, she has appeared in a host of commercials, plays, videos, and independent movies. Some of her work includes appearing in national commercials for Dr. Miracle's hair care products, Gerber, 5-Hour Energy, Five Below, and Beyonce's video "The Best Thing I Never Had".
In 2017, SJ signed a book deal with The TMG Firm. In less than a year, she wrote one fiction and two nonfiction books: Redemption & Repercussion, End Silenced Abuse: Tell Somebody, and The International Madam. During the next year, she made her producing debut and co-starred in the multi-award winning feature film, Out of Bounds. Her undeniable performance secured an Honorable Mention win in the Best Actress in a Drama category at the Best Actor Award Festival. SJ plans to continue producing, writing, and working as an actress with longevity in this business, while thanking God for every moment.
