About Taras

Experienced Director of Photography / Editor based in Moscow and Tbilisi (Georgia) with over 25 years of experience in the International TV news and specializing in shooting for documentary, current affairs reports, sport and corporate television. Skilled in SNG and ENG disciplines, Multicam OB, Studio, IP live outlets.

Worked in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, other former Soviet states - Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Armenia and Georgia.

Vast experience with digital camera system. I have shot for television, commercials, corporate films and the web, across a wide range of formats, using a wide range of cameras. I have my own Sony XDCAM EX1R and Sony PXW-FX6/FX3 full kit including lighting and editing. I'm also have access to any other format and have experience shooting with most other camera systems, including HDCAM, P2HD, XDCAM HD, CINEMA EOS (HD and 4K), SONY FS7, FX9, FX6, RED EPIC DRAGON. Experienced in all types of BETA (SP, SX, IMX and DIGI), DVCPro and DVCAM cameras as well. I am happy to work any required model of camera or type of format.

Though I am fully capable of assuming the direction of the shooting on location, I am ready to execute the instructions of the director, with whom I would be happy to establish effective communication. I relish the challenge of creating a desired, special mood suitable for a particular production.

I am a team player with a professional attitude towards work and have excellent interpersonal skills. I have demonstrated the ability to manage large projects and deliver consistent results within exact time frames at both national and international levels.
I'm accredited of Russian Ministry of the Foreign Affairs which give me a full rights to work with foreign media here in Russia. And I'm a full member of the International Federation of Journalists. English and Russian language skills.

I'm possess some qualifications with lighting, editing (FCP, Adobe Premiere), live outcasts (through EBU with SNG and LiveU/Aviwest feeds), audio recording and studio experience. I'm work with any kind of the camera supporting equipment - sliders, cranes, gimbles and Steadicam, car grip, lighting grip, camera mounts, tracks, dollies, teleprompters etc.

Documentary by Films by Jove/USA Director of Photography This 90 minute documentary will include film from Oleg Vidov’s most important American and Soviet movies, clips from interviews on more than a dozen Russian talk shows and American programs such as Entertainment Tonight and CNN, as well as interviews filmed in 2018 and 2019 by Vidov’s wife, journalist Joan Borsten Vidov, with his co-stars and directors from numerous countries, the brave Yugoslavs and Austrians who helped Vidov escape from the USSR, and the Americans who helped him make a new life. It will include a nuanced and honest look at the most positive and negative aspects of life in the USSR which, during the 70 years of its existence, turned a mostly illiterate country literate, while attempting to control the thoughts and movements of its people. The production crew is led by Borsten, and includes award-winning feature filmmaker Nadia Tass, award-winning editors Leonard Feinstein and Cory Taylor who also wrote the screenplay. Seth Isler (“It Takes a Lunatic”) is a co-producer and Oscar-winning filmmaker Marianna Yarovskaya is a supervising producer.
