Daphne Wu is a freelance cinematographer familiar with a variety of film and digital formats, including 35mm, 16mm, Arri ALEXA/AMIRA, RED, HD, and DSLR.
Daphne was born in Hebei, China and grew up bilingual in Singapore and Dallas, Texas. She moved to Los Angeles in 2007, where she has since freelanced as a director of photography, shooting narrative features and short films along with music videos, commercials, and fashion films. Her active approach to cinematography is to constantly innovate and challenge how a narrative can be translated visually onto the screen. She is one to take creative risks and loves to work with directors and producers that are just as fearless in their vision.
Her latest work includes short film Vice Versa (2015) with Isaiah Washington (Grey's Anatomy), and feature film Aimy in a Cage (2015), starring Crispin Glover (Back to the Future) and Paz de la Huerta (Boardwalk Empire, Enter the Void).
