SYNOPSIS:

Lieutenant Adam Steele of the Australian Army is stationed in Afghanistan. At night he is haunted by nightmares of his dead wife and child. During the day he watches as his men, his friends, are gunned down and wounded in battle. It’s all become too much, and at the end of this tour he wants out. One day on a mission, they raid a home known to house insurgents. They kill the Taliban inside and discover a number of Afghanis being held prisoner. At that moment, Steele sees one of them, Brishna. She is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. He’s forced to pat her down and as he does the two begin talking. She tells him that her family has been kidnapped by a Taliban man she grew up with, Azar. He was holding them because he has always wanted Brishna and figured this way she’d be forced to be with him. Steele is moved by her plight and shows her kindness even though he must take her into custody. While being held, Steele visits with Brishna frequently and the two become close. One day he is forced to deliver her some bad news – her family has been killed. Heartbroken, Brishna doesn’t know what to do, but she knows she must get out of Afghanistan or the Taliban will kill her. Steele then makes the suggestion that she come back to Australia. She decides to do it but first she needs a passport. As he heads back home to Sydney, Brishna goes to stay with her uncle who she believes will be able to help her. Back home, Steele hears from Brishna. There is a freeze on passports and she fears that the Taliban will find her before she can get out. But Steele has a plan. He’s going to return to Afghanistan and smuggle her into Australia through Indonesia. Once he returns to the war zone, he realizes things have gotten much worse. Steele is reunited with Brishna, but on their way out of Afghanistan they are attacked by Azar. Apparently Brishna’s own uncle has been working for the Taliban and let Azar know where they would be. After a long firefight, Steele is able to get Brishna out of the country. In Indonesia, he buys her passage on a boat. As he heads back to Sydney, she is held in a detention center for six months before being allowed into Australia. Once in Sydney, Steele and Brishna finally consummate their romance. Things finally seem to be going well. But the Australian intelligence have discovered that not only is Brishna in Australia, but also that her uncle is Taliban. Out of fear she may be a suicide bomber, they decide to kidnap her and send her back to Afghanistan. Steele follows them back there, but it’s too late. Searching for her is like finding a needle in a haystack. He is forced to return to Sydney alone. Eighteen months have passed and Steele still can’t get over Brishna. One night he runs into a Agent at a bar. He gets it out of him that Brishna is living in a town called Naray. Not only that but she has a daughter – and Steele is the father. Quickly he returns to Afghanistan. Accompanied by members of the coalition, they go searching for her. Turns out she is again being held by Azar. The soldiers move in and a firefight commences. In the battle, Azar is finally taken out – but not before Brishna is wounded in an RPG attack. She is rushed to a medic, with Steele by her side. The injuries are too much. They can’t save her. Steele is devastated. The woman he fought so hard for is gone. But he is left with some hope. A future. He now has a beautiful daughter, Samara. He takes her back to Australia to start a new life, the life her mother would have wanted her to have.
