About Joey

Joey Medina born and raised in the Bronx, New York, has been in the entertainment field in front and behind the camera for over 30
years. Before entering the world of show business, Joey was a professional world boxing contender and the Arizona Lightweight Boxing Champion.
Early in his comedy career, Joey Medina was homeless and living in a car. He donated plasma to eat and just put gas in his vehicle. One day while donating plasma, Joey promised himself that he will prevail and be successful by following his dreams.
As a stand-up comedian, Joey was part of the most successful Latino comedy group in history. He appeared on Paramount Picture's, “The Original Latin Kings of Comedy” with, George Lopez, Paul Rodriguez and Cheech Marin. He starred in several specials including his own SHOWTIME network comedy special called, “Taking Off the Gloves.” He’s appeared in over 70 films and TV shows.
As a comedian, not only has he headlined at all major comedy clubs in America, he has performed around the globe for international audiences as well. He has toured with Russell Peters in the U.S. and internationally and was the first American comedian to headline in Vietnam for the Vietnamese.
Joey Medina also had one of the top morning radio shows in Los Angeles on 96.3 FM, who's show tied Big Boy on Power 106 in the ratings and won an “Impact Award” for “Excellence in Broadcasting” from the National Hispanic Media Coalition.
As a filmmaker, Joey has become an independent multi-award winning Director, Producer, Writer and Actor. One of his latest short films, "Beautiful Violence" has won to date 156 awards in several categories including Directing, Producing and Writing and he has been dubbed by some as “The King of Short Films.” Joey also starred, wrote, produced and directed his multi-award winning sitcom pilot titled, "Man of a Funny Age" where he also won an award for best male actor in a comedy.
