About Dan

Dan is a Lighting Designer with over 25 years of experience in live events, television, theme parks and theatre, and is known for his particular expertise in 3D rendering and production pre-visualization.

From 2000-2008, Dan held the position of Associate Lighting Designer to Bob Dickinson and Bob Barnhart at Full Flood Inc. and prepared blueprints for over 500 televised events including six Emmy winning productions for Outstanding Lighting Design (75th Academy Awards, the 46th, 49th & 50th Grammy Awards, and the 2002 and 2004 Olympic Opening Ceremonies in Salt Lake and Athens). After becoming a freelance lighting director in 2008, Dan has since teamed up w/ Matt Ford of Magic Lantern Creations and Joshua Hutchings and Illumination Advocates for finale productions of Singoff at the Dolby Theatre and America’s Got Talent Finale at Radio City.

Dan’s theme park credits include attraction design for Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. in Times Square NYC. Consulting work w/ CD+M Lighting Design Group includes attraction design for the IMG City of Arabia and Bollywood theme parks in Dubai, exterior LED programming for Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, and onsite lighting direction for Legoland Malaysia and The Happy Magic Water Cube Olympic Swim Pavilion in Beijing.

As dedicated theatrical designer of small and not-so-small theatre, Dan has contributed to the production of over a 100 plays and live events in the Los Angeles Area since the mid 90’s. Recent theatrical credits include Iceland with Overtone Industries at REDCAT, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo and Abigail’s Party at San Francisco Playhouse, Cirque Berzerk at Club Nokia and LA Historic State Park, James Joyce's The Dead with the Open Fist Theatre Company and the currently open Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side at the Matrix Theatre in Hollywood.

First Responders Live (2019)
Television by Fox Lighting Designer Served as Director of Photography/ Lighting Designer for the weekly live studio segments for Season 1 of First Responders Live on Fox. The FRL design included standard studio lighting for standing position and interviews, and included integrated lighting effects to enhance and support augmented virtual reality effects onstage, and emergency reposes style sirens effects to bumper shots to commercial breaks.
