About Alan

When I was in college at UCLA to help pay the bills I worked as an extra on two films – Cincinnati Kid and King Rat. Soon after I left California and came to New York and tried my hand as a freelance artist. Years later I married, settled down and became part of the establishment working as a Regional Sales Manager for a large, family-owned business (not my family) for a number of years. I retired from that position in 2010 but found retirement literally a bore and needed to get out the house and get active. A family friend suggested that I try background work. My first job was as a Non-Union extra in a HBO pilot shot at JFK Airport. In spite of the long hours rushing up and down staircases and through the terminal dragging a suitcase and getting soaked by the artificial rain – I loved the experience and decided to seriously pursue this work as a second (or should I say third) career. I was lucky enough to be able to join SAG AFTRA just as they merged. Since my soggy start I have been fortunate enough to work on numerous projects and even fulfilled a teen-age boy’s fantasy of being in bed with Jane Fonda – although I was playing her dead husband at the time. Directors have commented on my professionalism and animated portrayals, placing me in camera and selecting me for feature and stand-in roles. There are some shows where I almost feel like a regular and I am warmly greeted by name by wardrobe and the AP’s. I believe that my tall, slim, stylish appearance combined with my vigorous enthusiasm and energy are the keys to my relatively successful career. I am now ready to step it up to commercials and speaking roles. I am ready to self-report within the Tri-State area and have an extensive, current wardrobe.
