SYNOPSIS:

It’s not easy being a Yankee stuck in the South. A series of ill fated machinations has left forensic accountant Julia James stranded in Georgia, a foreign country if she ever saw one. Now she’s homeless, jobless, and her almost fiancé who was supposed to rescue her has taken up with a new woman. Salvation arrives in the form of her friend Katie-Belle’s grandmother, who has an empty cottage on her South Georgia farm. There’s only one catch. In exchange for living rent free, grandma wants Julia to find her older brother, Bob, who has recently gone missing. No problem ... if Julia knew the first thing about being a private eye. But Katie’s grandmother has heard “forensic” and missed “accountant” and Julia’s not about to tell her the closest she’s been to a crime scene was shoplifting gum when she was six. After all, she’s got good computer skills and an curious mind. How hard could it be to find one unsophisticated senior citizen in this day and age? Harder than she thinks, especially once her task is complicated by a slew of other people also after old Bob. Just before he disappeared, Bob and two ne’er do well friends located a stash of old Civil War era documents and now Bob’s taken off with the loot and his bumbling buddies want their share. It could be quite a payday, since Bob might have found Georgia’s missing copy of the Bill of Rights. The next thing Julia knows, she’s off on a chase through rural Georgia, and a culture as foreign as Mars, as she desperately attempts to find Bob before his buddies, a shady documents dealer, a mob connected real estate developer, and even the FBI, can get to him.
