About Christine

Patchwork Productions was set up by independent award-winning Producer Christine Hartland in 2004 and has received CREATIVE EUROPE and BFI development funding. Christine is also co-founder of SMASH which connects diverse & emerging content creators with decision-makers. After successful short films, she produced her first feature film, WMD (2009) to be one of the first British films to follow a reverse distribution strategy (.uk/ ). Patchwork Productions has been consistently working on new projects and delivering first-class, award-winning films: VERITY’S SUMMER and LIFE JUST IS ( - nominated for the Michael Powell Award at the Edinburgh Film Festival) which both had UK theatrical release (2012/2013).

Patchwork Productions received CREATIVE EUROPE development fund for the feature NITRATE & BFI script development funding for THE TENTMASTER'S DAUGHTER.

Patchwork Productions' aim is to produce independent films with a compelling story and a unique voice, supported by online marketing and transmedia strategies, explore innovative funding, distribution models and release strategies to suit each project.

Christine co-founded SMASH with indie producer Fiona Gillies. SMASH connects content creators with commissioners by providing a Pitch Builder tool to enable creators to share and track their projects safely. It also provides Sales Estimates for feature films.
