Astrid Black

Actor, director and filmmaker in Perth, Australia

About Astrid

A precocious child, I began performing skits, songs and dance numbers for family, friends, neighbors and even strangers when I was four years old. At age six I found a book of my father's called Roll Over Shakespeare which had short excerpts from radio plays, I spent hours practicing those in different voices and accents. At age 10 my parents finally allowed me to go to acting classes after finding me flipping through the yellowpages looking for an agent. The same year I wrote my first short film about vampires. Through highschool I focused on Drama and Media Studies and continuing writing films in my spare time. And at seventeen I wrote my first feature simply entitled Girl.

Since then I've tried several different careers in different industries but always circled back to film and this year I finally decided to make it my full-time career. I'm on stage 32 to find like-minded people to help bring several films I'm currently working on to life. I would love to meet and would be interested in collaborating with people from the US, Canada, The UK, Ireland and Europe.
