Having started as a film critic, Juan Gerard transitioned into art house exhibitor and distributor, international film festival founder and director, film producer, screenwriter and director. He co-wrote and directed the award winning CUBA LIBRE (originally titled DREAMING OF JULIA; distributed in the U.S. as CUBAN BLOOD), starring Harvey Keitel and Gael García Bernal. He also co-wrote and produced SHORTCUT TO PARADISE starring Charles Dance and Assumpta Serna. Juan graduated with honors from the University of Miami with degrees in Architecture and Engineering. Born and raised in Cuba, he is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English.
