JUST A PHONE CALL AWAY
By Fuzzy Batten

GENRE: Romance, Comedy
LOGLINE: Phone calls from his dead girlfriend in heaven, gets Jason back into the dating game.

SYNOPSIS:

“JUST A PHONE CALL AWAY” is written along the lines of films such as “Hitch” and “Heaven Can Wait.” Three months after his girlfriend, Krista, died Jason has been receiving phone calls from her. Jason finds out that Krista is calling from the gates of heaven but refuses to enter until Jason is happy again. She wants him to start dating again, until he finds love and is happy, only then can she enter heaven. The comedic moments hit overdrive when Krista sabotages any date she does not like by just using a telephone. He'll be making out with a woman that she doesn't like and will call him, "Don't forget to wear a condom!" He immediately hangs up the phone and continues to make out with his date. Ignoring the phone ringing again, knowing it is Krista, the answering machine loudly bursts into the air: "Yes, Jason this is Dr. Quinn your genital warts have mutated into black syphilis. Please stay out of contact with anybody, especially kissing. You are very dangerous and need to be quarantined." She ruins date after date with nonstop pizza deliveries, strip-o-grams, 911 calls, and then some. In the end Jason does find love again, actually happens to be his psychiatrist. In a magical, sad ending Krista comes back down from heaven to Jason for one last goodbye to set the tone that everything will be all right. The final message expressed is true love will always prevail.
