"I heard it through the grapevine...."
A family that acts like robots is happy until something completely unexpected happens. The story is told without dialogue, using only music and sound effects. More information: http://pronountrouble2.wordpress.com/2010/05/20/intermezzo/
Shadows on the Wall is a short film that's part Looney Tunes, part film noir, and and a bit of Plato's Myth of the Cave. It was written in 1990, made in 1992 at USC, but conceived more than ten years earlier as a short film featuring Will Eisner's character, The Spirit. Read the shocking, but true story about the making of the film here: http://pronountrouble2.wordpress.com/2010/05/25/shadows-on-the-wall/

Expand commentHe's my favorite American author, I think the way he suggests feelings and emotions are unique, he Always shoews, never tells, and in doing so he also makes you consider the big issues in life. My favorite novel is Cannery Row, but I love all his novels. It's also very interesting to read the letters he wrote to friends and family filled with considerations about writing.
I like Steinbeck, but for me, it's Faulkner, hands down. The Sound and the Fury was a game-changer for me. When I read it at about age 12, that book put me on a lifetime writing path.
I really don't see how or why anybody needs to be the greatest--it's extremely subjective. I think some authors definitely deserve to be called "great", but "greatest"??
