About Shantre

Inspired by hip-hop, jazz and French New Wave cinema, Shantre began her creative venture in New York and studied film-making in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. As a lover of non-traditional and inquisitive stories, she seeks to raise dialogue between art and audience. She creates in the mediums of photography, film, spoken word, commercials, and web tv.

Shantre's work has screened at the Pan African Film Festival, Western New York Black Film Festival, San Francisco Black Film Festival and also won awards at the Urban Media Makers festival.

Recently her Kickstarter funded photography exhibition, Lest We Forget: A Portrait of Bayview Hunters Point exhibited in San Francisco and Oakland.

Unique traits: I'm inspired by hip-hop, jazz and New Wave cinema. Akira, The 400 Blows and I Am Cuba are my all time fav. Unashamedly, I've seen the Last Dragon over 50 times.
