By Sage De Beixedon Breslin

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

$50,000 and the opportunity to host a dinner party for an A-lister is on the line, but do the millennials have enough tact, diplomacy and planning skills to pull it off?Can they learn in ten weeks what they need to in order to put elder judges in their place or will they be schooled by the wisdom keepers???

SYNOPSIS:

In a world where technology and team sports have replaced high tea and cotillion, the development of etiquette and manners has vanished. Young adults lack refinement, tact and diplomacy in more traditional social settings, even if they’ve gained professional power and authority. This tech native generation is at a disadvantage in job interviews, board meetings, and important functions. Perfectly plugged in and totally disconnected, they’ve missed the opportunities to organically learn and practice in social circumstances, and seem unresponsive to normal training and education.Further, generations are more alienated from one another than they have been in five decades.

For this competitive reality television program, sixteen contestants aged 21-29 will be recruited from the LA club scene to learn in ten weeks, general etiquette as well as the specific tools for hosting various social events.Throughout the competition, contestants will demonstrate just how skilled, or unskilled, they are when food, alcohol, and unique personalities are thrown into the mix!Additionally, judges will be exposed to the Millenial world, enabling them to not only better value what they may not understand, but enhance the likelihood that contestants will be more open to the wisdom that elder judges have to offer.

Contestants will be divided into two teams and will have opportunities to assume leadership positions, learn specific skills and work collaboratively in order to score points. During each episode, one contestant from each team will be elected Team Captain and will host a social event, attended by 4 judges and the remaining members of their team.Three of the judges will appear on each episode, joined by guest judge (specific to the theme of the episode).

Judges will rate the contestants on the following skills:

  • Greeting at the event (Do we knock or just go in???)
  • Introductions and promotion of conversations between guests during the cocktail hour (I’m sorry- who did you say you are?)
  • Ambiance (Tableware, linens, music, seating)
  • Food choice, planning and preparation (contestants must cook and serve their meals)
  • Wine and beverage selection for events (do beverages compliment the food?)
  • Generation and maintenance of conversation during the event (How many conversations CAN you have going at one time?)
  • Closure (How do you get those guests to leave when the party’s over???)

The team that receives the most points for hosting the event remains to compete the following week. Judges will vote off one team member from the losing team. As contestants are voted off, their seats at the events will be filled by socially challenging celebrities.

The final five contestants will compete for the two finalist positions during Episode 9.In Episode 10, the two finalists will be rejoined by all of the former contestants, and Finalists will choose their teams. All of the permanent and guest judges that have appeared during the season will serve as guests for the dinner party finale. The winner will receive a $50,000 prize, some portion of which will be used to host a dinner party for a spectacular celebrity guest. At the end of that dinner party, the celebrated guest will decide whether or not the competitor has truly earned the remaining funds!
