About Samantha

Samantha has worked in the entertainment industry since 2007. He is a trans man with a broad range of experience and works on both sides of the camera. Originally from New Zealand and Australia, he's now based in North America and is a good-standing member of IATSE 514.

Sam has 10+ years professional film experience working in prop making, armour construction, scenic sculpting, set building and decorating, costume work, making creatures and monsters, miniatures, and also on-set special effects. He was trained at the National Drama school of New Zealand and upon graduation was hired by Weta Workshop, where he spent 4 years working as a Special Effects Technician.

Samantha is also a trained performer for stage and screen, trained in vocal work, movement and stunt fighting. He has experience with many sports and is also a martial arts instructor with 10 years experience in swordsmanship and medieval martial arts. He also works regularly as a life model for art schools.

His special interest is historical sword-fighting from 11-15th century Europe, such as the use of sword and buckler, longsword and lance/spear. He has trained with many different ancient weapons as well as in mounted combat on horses and frequently consults for projects and teaches at workshops or live events.
