I graduated from the University of Texas, Austin with a degree in Radio, TV & Film. I immediately moved to L.A. to pursue TV/Film writing. I was actually optioned by Paramount for a script I wrote for Star Trek- The next generation. Much to my chagrin, I was contacted by Jerry Taylor, the Supervising Producer of the show, a day before my birthday back in 91, to tell me that the series was cancelled! Hence...I switched to the "R" in RTF, and have been in the business since.
I just finished writing a movie that PureFlix / Believe Productions in L.A. has already committed to producing. They are the company that wrote and produced "God's Not Dead." Cary Solomon called me back in February and told me that, besides about 10 minutes of revisions, “Your script is ready to shoot!” He then said the bad news is that no STUDIO will touch this because it’s “controversially Christian”! He went on to say that while Christian (or Biblical) certainly isn’t 'deal breaker' nowadays, the debate and uproar your script would cause will scare any big studio away from it- “AS IS!” He said that even if a studio DID decide to move forward with it, I probably wouldn’t recognize the script, once they were done with all the rewrites. While I am excited and honored that this producer has taken such an interest in my script, I am not convinced that a studio would not produce it- AS IS. Since this producer has not optioned the script due to his convictions about its reception by big studios, I am free to send it to anyone else I wish. I want to make certain I explore all options
