About Joe

Joe Daoud Martin: Information about some dozens of produced and published plays can be found at joemartin.us (As well as works of fiction can be found there.) I am interested in the intersection between the the political world worlds and that of spirit. I have worked in Canada, the US, Scandinavia, and Mexico, and travelled to do theatre research in India. I have worked with support of Fulbright scholarships and Theatre Specialist project grants , Rockefeller grants, as well as grants from NYSCA and DC Commission on the Arts. Recent projects include my epic play SOUNDWAVES: The Passion of Noor Inayat Khan, which was produced first Off-off Broadway in New York in 2013 and most recently in Cupertino CA in 2017; also recently I have directed two works by Athol Fugard in Israel/Palestine.

Unique traits: My graduate education -- artistic and scholarly -- took place in Canada, Norway and Sweden. I have a great number of international influences -- and have not cut my teeth on film yet -- other than one piece written and directed for cable TV and an extended film treatment commissioned, but unproduced, and televised versions of stage productions I have created, such as "The Match Girl's SNOW QUEEN." I have volumes of fiction and poetry as well. Go to www.joemartin.us
