Hi! My name is Stefanie Butler. I am a writer and an American film and television actress born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.
I spent the better part of my childhood in baseball stadiums around the country. In addition to an endless supply of hot dogs and bobble head dolls made in the likeness of my father, each night my siblings and I were given an audience of 50,000 spectators to dazzle with our latest renditions of The Little Mermaid or Maggie and the Shoemaker.
Storytelling has always been a part of the fabric of my being. I was an avid reader as a child - my mom often had to take books away from me and tell me to go outside and play. I moved to Los Angeles in 2002, where I attended Pepperdine University and completed a degree in Theater in 2006. I instantly began my film and television career.
Most recently, I starred in the independent films, Followed, I Remember You and Car Dogs playing opposite Patrick J. Adams. I have also appeared on CSI: NY, Shark, Rizzoli & Isles and Frank Darabont's Mob City. My film debut was opposite Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) in the Billy Graham biopic, Billy: The Early Years, starring as Ruth Graham. I have also appeared in numerous national campaigns for companies such as: Burger King, Jeep, Pizza Hut and Toyota.
In the past few years, I have been splitting my attention between acting and writing/directing, deciding I would no longer wait around for someone else to give me permission to tell the stories I wanted to tell.
In 2013 I completed my first full-length screenplay, The Silent Queen. It is a historical fiction depicting a Irish queen kidnapped by Vikings and forced into a seemingly impossible decision. It is loosely based on actual events from my Icelandic heritage.
Since then, I have completed four short films, a pilot, and two other features. My favorite genre is period dramas with strong female protagonists.
In my free time, I am writing a series of childrens books.
