John McLeod

In 1958 I was born San Francisco. At the age of 5 our family moved to Tiburon where I live now with my wife, Kathy and son, Blair. I graduated from Redwood High School in 1976. My father, Rod McLeod, started teaching me, when I was very young, all about electrical, mechanical and building, as he worked at the Opera House in lighting before serving as President of IATSEA Local 16. Between racing motor cycles, surfing, playing golf I decided to take the security of a "real" job. I was working at the Opera House as a teen when I realized I my interest in pyro technics and metal fabrication. I went to work for Industrial Light and Magic, learned the skills I needed before starting my own business in the 1980's, McLeodfx. I'm happy to say I am still working and humbly appreciate the recognition the movie industry has bestowed on me with a few awards in TV and nominations in movies. I am grateful to be able to live in the Bay Area and continue to find work that allows me to stay near my family.
