Martin and Lana Pagano are a married couple who have been living a life of lies and deceit, but on this afternoon the truth comes out and Martin learns the reality behind Lana's sacrifice; a reality that Martin is unable to bear, thus taking a drastic attempt in order to console his hurt and anger.

SYNOPSIS:

Martin and Lana Pagano were once very in love, but an unfortunate event changed their lives causing their affection to turn to hate, anger and depression. Martin a professional boxer was convicted of killing a man with a fatal punch and served 7 years for manslaughter. During his incarceration, Lana supported him, but as the months turned to years their financial situation took a turn for the worse, and Lana found herself making a decision she has never been proud to admit. Lana's secret created a rift in their relationship causing her to be consumed with guilt and regret. As a means to cope, Lana began drinking and using drugs. To this day, Martin has never understood why Lana is angry and why the need to use cocaine, but Martin has had to cope with his own demons and has become an alcoholic in the process. Martin is unemployed and continues to have trouble finding a legal means to support Lana. He has lied and continues to lie as Lana feels she has been patient and supportive with Martin. Lana spends her days in their small apartment drinking, snorting cocaine and reliving her decision to stick by Martin. Lana has never revealed the truth to Martin, but when Martin comes home on this particular afternoon, Lana is extremely inebriated and high, and has made the decision that she is leaving him. The afternoon starts smooth, but as Martin begins to tell her where he's been, Lana doesn't want to hear the lies. Lana begins to blame him for their misfortunes making Martin feel insignificant and useless. Martin at first says nothing and ignores Lana by pouring himself a drink, but as she continues to belittle him, Martin angrily lashes back. Lana doesn't want to hear the excuses and runs into the bathroom, once again shutting Martin out. Martin continues drinking and as the afternoon passes and Lana doesn't come out, Martin attempts to sweet talk her out of the bathroom. Lana now exits the bathroom only to continue the criticism and badgering towards Martin. The yells and screams now spiral out of control and Lana finally breaks down and confesses the truth to Martin. Martin is shocked and as he slowly realizes the extent of what Lana has done, he begins to lose control. Martin threatens to kill her and kill himself as Martin cannot fathom the truth behind Lana's secret-the only woman that he has ever loved slept with a man he has despised his whole life. Lana knows Martin is broken and beaten. This is the last straw. Martin runs into the room to grab his gun and as he begins to load the gun, Lana pleas and begs him until she finally calms him down. Martin begins to cry and Lana breaks down with him. They both realize their love is strong and in the darkness of the room, Lana pours Martin a drink, lights a cigarette and they both sit back turning on the television before turning in for the night.
